About El Caplan
El Caplan is a bilingual singer/songwriter and producer from Los Angeles. He instantly captivates listeners with his crooning, baritone voice and reverb soaked western guitars. A seasoned multi-instrumentalist, El Caplan blends alternative americana and old school rock and roll. Raised by an American R&B session musician father and a Mexican mother from the narco-run Culiacan, Sinaloa, he fuses his influences in a way that is uniquely his own. No stranger to the industry, El Caplan has worked behind the scenes as a session musician and producer for industry giants like Dr. Dre. Now he is embarking on his own as an artist on his own terms.
His upcoming single, “Our Lady, the Queen of Angels,” a dreamy alt-country homage to Los Angeles, showcases El Caplan’s lyrical storytelling abilities. Co-produced and mixed by Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Sierra Ferrell, Brandi Carlile), the western ballad simultaneously pays tribute to the mythical city, while exposing its dark underbelly. “Our Lady, the Queen of Angels” follows up his last two singles, covers of of Selena’s “Como La Flor, and Los Angeles Negros’ “Y Volvere,” (featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday Latin). With these releases El Caplan deconstructs the Latin classics with warm, moody, western soundscapes.
El Caplan recently shared the stage with THEBROSFRESH at Aviator Nation Dreamland in Malibu. Other recent show highlights include opening for the Dandy Warhols at Pioneertown International Film Festival and playing for a packed house at Hotel Cafe for the music video premiere of his song “Broken Record.”
You can catch El Caplan live around Southern California with his band or as a solo artist as he prepares for the release of his debut album, eponymously named “Our Lady, the Queen of Angels.”
