About Anson Jones
Described by Downbeat Magazine as “all the right tones of jazz, R&B, and singer-songwriter”, Anson Jones stands out with her sensitive songwriting and authentic voice.
Her second EP, Unspoken, was released May 31 on Secret Sun Recordings, a mix of vintage warmth and modern vibrance. Her first EP, A Way With Words, was released on Modern Icon Recordings and landed on Downbeat’s “Best of 2022” list.
Anson studied jazz composition at Princeton Univeristy and won both the Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts and the Isodore and Helen Sacks Memorial Prize in Music. Alongside her studies in composition, architecture, and computer science, she continued to play at venues like the Mercury Lounge, the New York Songwriters Circle at the Bitter End, and the 2020 Litchfield Jazz Festival. After graduation, she won a 2022 Fulbright Scholarship and Harriet Hale-Wooley Award in Paris to compose and live as artist-in-residence at the Fondation Des États-Unis. The same year, she won the 2022 John Wallowich Award for songwriters from the Manhattan Association of Cabarets.
