About Lasse Mørck

I'm a 35-year-old third-generation double bass player from an island in Denmark called Funen. The music I make is inspired by wherever my curiosity have led me, through many styles of music, stories I've heard and places I've imagined.

In 2017 I released my first album as a bandleader called "Imagining Places I've Never Been" with a chordless quartet consisting of two horns, bass & drums.
My second release from 2018 was a six-part suite depicting the Aztec myth of creation "El Quinto Sol". When making this album I tried to challenge myself as a composer, mixing classical and Latin American folklore music with jazz.

My latest release came out in 2023 and it´s called "Imagining Places No One's Probably Ever Been". It is sort of a follow-up to my first album, except that this time, I've drawn inspiration from mythical places that may or may not have existed at all, combining the sound of fables of old and contemporary jazz. It's been a lot of fun sketching out ideas, which eventually have become the music you can hear on this release. The band consists of some of my best friends, all three incredibly talented musicians: Jonas Due on trumpet, Ludvig Samuelsson on alto/baritone sax, Snorre Kirk on drums.

I wish to make easy-to-go-to music that still contains a lot of depth. I want it to be melodic, beautiful, fun, swinging and imaginative. Simple yet interesting for both the novice and seasoned jazz-listener alike. So, I sincerely hope that you will like what you hear.

"His music is deeply elegant and requieres a particular sensivity to linear shape, lyrical articulation, and clarity of texture" Jazzdegame

"As far as I´m concerned, this album is one of the funniest, nicest, relaxing and stimulating works I´ve found myself reviewing lately". Riccardo Talamazzi, Off-Topic Magazine
