About SZABO

SZABO
SZABO
SZABO is an Hungarian born singer/songwriter and actor. He has garnered acclaim for his work in film and on stage, toured in more than 40 countries, released two gold records with his former band and became the second best male voice of his season on the X factor.

Born and raised in Budapest, SZABO appeared in musical theater productions as a child. In the early- to mid-2000s, he was a main member of the Broadway Studio of Budapest Drama School, studying and performing in shows like West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet. Later, he also became a member of the Academy of Classical Music and the Improv Theater Workshop. After high school, he signed a contract with the Budapest Operetta Theater and performed leading roles in musical, operetta and opera.

SZABO's first real connection to pop music took place in 2012 when he was a competitor in the music competition show, X Factor.

After the show, he started working on his own music, but the transition from being an actor to being a singer/songwriter in Hungary seemed impossible. Many there believed that he could not be anything other than a musical theater actor. But, he knew differently. His belief that people can evolve led him to pursue his newfound passion for pop music, despite the criticisms around him. SZABO knew it was time for radical change, which meant leaving his homeland for new opportunities abroad.

In 2017, he officially moved to Los Angeles. Although, following his dreams and trusting his instincts proved extremely difficult. “Leaving my career, my fans and everyone I love behind challenged me. But I knew it was necessary.” - SZABO

He collaborated with different artists and released his first American single, “Permission”, in 2019. After the pandemic, he co-wrote "Avatar" and "Differences" with music producer Aaron “Zeus” Zepeda. These two records influenced his creative thinking.

In 2023, he wrote music with musician/producer Joe Maffia. They released “Addicted To Ya" and it’s alternative version, “Addicted To Ya (After Sex)”, the same year, followed by the synth-pop/new wave track, “I’ll be Alright”, in the beginning of 2024.

He is currently writing songs and making music videos about self-validation, creative thinking, openness and acceptance, all the themes that emerged for him growing up in Hungary.
