About Birri
Birri grew up listening to vintage rock and roll surrounded by majestic mountains and fjords in western Norway. Today, writing her own music, she combines heartfelt lyrics on life's many twists and turns with catchy melodies and a stripped down, analog sound. Birri's musical inspiration ranges from Elton John to Dr. John, but a modern twist on the 70s nostalgia gives Birri a characteristic flair, making her sound like no one else.
In 2019, Birri's debut single «Ten Years» received a glowing 6/6 review in Lofotposten, and Stavanger Aftenblad proclaimed, «Birri is a name worth knowing,» while awarding her Christmas single «This Year» a commendable 5/6 review. NPS Music described her as «On par with some of the best Norwegian female roots and Americana artists».
On her upcoming sophomore album Birri taps into a darker vibe. «For All Those in Mourning» is a concept album exploring ten stages of grief, with a backdrop of sizzling rock, driving gospel and soulful Americana. The album is due in September 2024, with the first single dropping May 10 on Tik Records.
