About lui surreal
Lui Surreal is the avatar and musical brainchild of Scottish-born multidisciplinary artist Lui MacRae Wolstencroft. THE GATEKEEPERS were formed as a live band extension of the act in early 2024.
Conceptually they focus on the raw, uncensored nature of love and its parallels to addiction. Sonically departing from Punk, in its many manifestations, Lui is finding a way to charge music with the uncanny characteristics of the world as it consciously perceives it.
Alternative to the core, their upbringing led him to adopt and adapt elements of left-field Rap, Electronic/ Club music and Metal melting their key-elements into the soup of Surreality.
With a wild and captivating stage presence that is concerned with nothing but sheer energy in the NOW - Lui performs in clubs, venues, art spaces and raves. Currently based between the underground scenes of the UK and the NL they are finding a way to infuse this unique, genre-defiant energy with places, artists and audiences that make sense.
As a founding member of the UK based Digital Hardcore outfit LUzA CULT (LC), alongside SAVE_Az, Lui proceeds to release undefinable DIY projects that seamlessly veer between creating heavy-hitting post-genre Music, the performance of chaos-inducing live sets and avant-garde video-making.
Lui is currently based in Rotterdam, NL, where they have fostered the multidisciplinary Art collective SAMODIVA. The collective hosts events and club nights that infuse elements of performance and installation art with genre-defying electronic line-ups.
