About Rassarella

Rassarella Is a recognized sound selector in Jamaica and beyond, regarded as an influential figure in the reggae and dancehall industry. Rassarella is currently the official DJ for Damian Marley and Stephen Marley, the official DJ for the Welcome to Jamrock Cruise, and host of the Sound Clash at Sea. Rassarella also operates Zion Train International Sound, which is owned by the Marleys.

Over the years, Rassarella has worked with many known sound systems, such as Black Stone Sound, Super T, Trans Star and Emperor, to name a few. Rassarella’s time with Emperor Sound proved to be one of the most exciting during that era. He had sound clashes with some of dancehall’s well-known sound systems, such as Kilimanjaro, 4×4 Exodus, Black Cat, Base Odyssey, and Jam Rock, and others. During that time, he also had the privilege of playing amongst some legendary sound systems, like, Stone Love, Metro Media, Travellers, Renaissance and Inner City.

In 2008, Damian and Stephen Marley built a sound system and called it Gully Bank Sound. Rassarella was invited to be a part of this experience. Gully Bank Sound had three selectors: Swamp King, Fire Dean and Rassarella. They played at Bob Marley Birthday Celebrations all over Jamaica from Trench Town to Nine Miles, St. Ann, Rebel Salute, Fully Loaded, Nine Mile Festival in Miami, Reggae Boyz, and the World Cup Qualifier games in the National Stadium in Kingston, just to name a few. The name was later changed from Gully Bank to Zion Train International.

In 2012, Rassarella and the other members of Zion Train International started Zion Train Promotions and created an event called After Dinner Sundayz at Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston; it went on for a year every Sunday and was a big success.

In 2014, Rassarella was invited to perform on the historic first annual Welcome To Jamrock Cruise, which sailed from Fort Lauderdale to Jamaica, stopping at Montego Bay and Ocho Rios then returned to Fort Lauderdale. The Cruise featured Damian “Jr Gong” Marley, Stephen Marley, Sean Paul, Baby Sham, Bounty Killer and many more.

In 2015, Rassarella was invited to perform on the Catch A Fire Tour, throughout the U.S. with Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Morgan Heritage and Taurus Riley, featuring Super Cat on a few shows. That same year he was invited again as the official deejay on the Welcome To Jamrock Cruise. He was also the deejay who played at the sail away party after Damian Marley’s welcome speech The set that Rassarella gave the patrons set the tone for an experience to cherish for a lifetime.

In 2017, he traveled to the United Kingdom and Bermuda to play shows. With Damian Marley he performed on Hot 97 Hebro in the Morning anniversary. He also performed at the Cannabis Cup in Los Angeles. Rassarella played on Damian Marley’s Road to Stony Hill album tour; this was epic, because the album won the Grammy Award. In 2018 Rassarella was the official DJ at the Kaya Fest held in California, and the Bob Marley Birthday Celebration at the Bob Marley Museum held in Kingston, Jamaica.
