About Paraphon
Whether Paraphon are still considered an insider tip or not, everyone can make up their own minds. With over 30 gigs in recent years and fond memories of shows at the Krach am Bach festival or the Indie Night in St. Gallen, the synth-pop duo are slowly playing their way into the minds of listeners, awakening nostalgic feelings for the 80s – regardless of whether you were born then or not. Paraphone’s 80s retro sound, created and performed on various synthesizers, drum machines and electric guitar, is not only enchanting live, but also digitally. With their last EP YA Novel, released in January 2024, and previous releases, they laid the foundation for a driving retro sound that “never gets boring and evokes the retro spirit without a rotten aftertaste” (ArtNoir Magazine).
The EP Let It Burn, which will be released in November 2024, continues this momentum, blending striking synthesizer sounds, rhythmic guitar, straight beats and floating, slightly melancholic vocal melodies. Let It Burn, mixed by producer Brett Shaw (Foals, Florence and the Machine), continues Paraphon’s sound and enriches it with new elements. Four crisp, catchy songs will have you dancing your feet off – the synthesizers once again stand out as Paraphon’s trademark with even clearer sounds, while the guitar is even more rhythmic and funky than before.
