Strange Bangs

Strange Bangs is the sad-girl psychedelic project of Austin-based musician Heather Mills. Heather grew up in a town of 300 people in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. Her experiences there, from learning how to play on a broken church basement piano to losing her family’s home to a wildfire in 2020, inform much of her lyrical sentiment. Her music is ethereal, warm, and incredibly visual.

Never Easy, Strange Bangs’ first single in 3 years since her last release, You Did Not Know, will debut on Friday, February 23.

Never Easy is Strange Bangs' most shimmery, guitar-driven song yet (think Alvvays meets Weyes Blood). Written after the pandemic and several tragic events in her family, Never Easy speaks to the hope that exists in humility, the anger in moments of despair, and the sore spots in relationships that never fully heal.
