About Julieta Eugenio
Julieta Eugenio is an Argentinian saxophonist based in New York City.
She embedded herself in the Argentinian jazz scene and performed in renowned jazz venues in Buenos Aires alongside master musicians. After moving to New York City in 2013, she completed her Masters degree from Queens College in 2015 and has since then become a part of the city’s vibrant music scene. She has had the opportunity to perform and record alongside outstanding musicians in the NYC scene.
In April 2017, Julieta Eugenio won the International Women in Jazz Competition.
In March 2021, Julieta recorded her debut album, JUMP, featuring bassist Matt Dwonszyk and drummer Jonathan Barber. The album was released in March 2022 on Greenleaf Music, featuring Julieta’s original compositions and jazz standards.
For WBGO, critic Nate Chinen called Jump "an admirably focused effort that often evokes the calm at the center of a storm."
The Julieta Eugenio Trio won the 2022 DC Jazz Prix Competition, an international competition presented by the DC Jazz Fest. The trio performed on the main stage at the DC Jazz Festival 2023.
In October 2022, Julieta was nominated by the Jazz Music Awards for Best New Artist. And in 2023; she was mentioned by Grammy Magazine as one of the 10 jazz emerging artists to watch.
