About Would

Would is the solo project of Palila singer/guitarist Matthias Schwettmann and describes Would as the little, introverted brother of his main band, although the boundaries between the two are fluid.

While Palila's influences tend to be indie rock icons such as Built To Spill, Dinosaur Jr. and Pixies, Would's influences tend to be somewhat quieter and more melancholic contemporaries such as Elliott Smith, Jeff Tweedy and Neil Young.

The debut album “Be Okay To Not Be Okay” was the first sign of life in February 2024 and followed by the album “Get Away” in November 2024. Album No. 3 is called "Take A Break" and will arrive in June, 2025 via DevilDuck Records.
