Gavin Bowles & The Distractions

Sydney Power Pop quartet Gavin Bowles & The Distractions hit the ground running in 2023; bursting onto the live scene with a rousing live show and releasing their debut album “Phoning It In”; a sharp, no-holds-barred album of zippy Pop-Rock songs dealing with heartbreak, boredom, anxiety and nostalgia.

After a brief recharge, Bowles & The Distractions returned with two strong singles; “She Hates My Guts” and “Love Is Dumb” – both tracks boasting luscious Pop-Rock guitars and vocal hooks aplenty. Now in mid-2025, with a follow up album in tow; the band is releasing their new single “Sober”; a self-reflective mid-tempo groover hinting at what’s to come later in the year.

Bowles has made a name for himself recording and touring Aus in various outfits over the years, before dabbling in solo territory and eventually enlisting The Distractions (Michael Crudgington – guitar, Cameron Hill – bass, Simon Bowles - drums). Bowles & The Distractions blend 70’s and 80’s Indie and Alt Pop with modern Indie Rock sensibilities; creating a vibrant, rambunctious sound
and style to call their own.

Bowles & The Distractions have quickly gained a reputation for their energetic and refined live shows; brandishing catchy melodies, flourishes of bright guitars, hop-along bass lines and watertight drum grooves.
