About Coast Arcade
Formed in 2021, Coast Arcade has quickly become one of the most exciting emerging bands out of Aotearoa. The lineup, featuring Bella Bavin (Rafflyn) on vocals and guitar, Thom Boynton on drums, Leo Spykerman on bass, and guitarist Arlo Birrs, has carved out a unique space in the indie-pop/rock scene. With a sound that’s energetic, raw, and irresistibly catchy, they’ve already shared stages with artists like Bootleg Rascal, Teenage Dads, The Grogans, Pacific Avenue, Grandson, The Beths, and Princess Chelsea, and toured New Zealand with Australian favourites Lime Cordiale & The Terry's.
Coast Arcade has also made an impact on the festival circuit, performing at major events like Spring City Festival (alongside Groove Armada, Zane Lowe, and Ladyhawke), White Out Festival (with Homebrew, Shapeshifter, and Odd Mob), Fortlane Festival, and the iconic Rhythm and Vines twice. Their live shows have gained a reputation for being unmissable, with the band’s raw energy and undeniable chemistry bringing their music to life in powerful ways. Having played hundreds of shows, Coast Arcade is a band that truly thrives on stage, captivating audiences with their electrifying live set.
Their 2022 debut single "Tattoo" made an immediate splash, reaching #11 on the Hot 20 NZ Singles Chart and establishing the band's reputation for infectious melodies and vibrant energy. Building on this momentum, they released their debut EP "Next To Me" in May 2023, which resonated with both local and international audiences. Songs like "Highest Heights," which peaked at #2 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart, and "Surf Club," highlighted the band's diverse sound and strong songwriting.
Following their chart success, Coast Arcade sold out their headline tour across New Zealand's North Island during the summer of '23/'24. In August 2024, they took a bold step forward with their single "Baited," revealing a more mature, refined sound that represents their musical direction moving forward. The song captured their fanbase while drawing in new listeners, landing on key editorial playlists in New Zealand and Australia, as well as Spotify’s global Fresh Finds playlist. "Baited" climbed to #3 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart and was picked up by radio stations across New Zealand, Australia, and the UK, including a feature on BBC Introducing.
Coast Arcade show no signs of slowing down with another single set for release by the end of 2024 and a body of work slated for mid 2025. The band continues to evolve, embracing authenticity, pushing boundaries, and captivating audiences worldwide with their irresistible sound and electrifying live performances.
