About Three Plus
Currently one of the hottest bands in Hawaii , Three Plus has taken the islands by storm. This highly energetic group consists of three friends who have come together through their love for music and sports.
Marcus Malepeai is a '92 graduate of Kailua High School and has returned to his alma mater to coach their varsity football team. He practiced the art of 'ukulele playing while attending college in Idaho.
Tanoa Kapana, also deemed "the voice of Three Plus," graduated from Campbell High School in '95 and wend on to Foothill Junior College where he met fellow musician, Karl Zinsman. Karl, a '93 graduate of Saint Louis School for Boys, previously recorded an album with another group known as "Na Kama." The two have also returned to their alma mater to coach successful football programs.
After a short time on the Hawaii music scene, the three recorded their first album entitled "Honey Baby." The project hit the shelves in September of "99 and after one week of the release, the album topped the local charts. For nine straight weeks, the album was number one on FM 100's top 10 @ 10 for most units sold locally. After nine months, they have already sold more than 40,000 copies. They were also nominated for three Na Hoku Hanohano awards which is a very prestigious honor in the Hawaii music industry.
This very successful group also consists of a back-up band that enhances their exciting, high energy show. Three Plus is also currently in the studio working on a new project that captures their unique and very characteristic sound. In the short time that this band has originated, they have definitely made their mark in music history and will continue to move forward.
