BIRREN.

Gudjingburra artist, Birren, has a deep love for music that started at a young age. His ocean-inspired rhythms are rooted in his childhood of surfing and fishing in his coastal home of Booningbah (Fingal Head) in Northern NSW.
As a child he was surrounded by a family of musicians. Birren's first instrument was a ukulele and by the age of 5 you would find him banging away in the shed on the drum kit. Birren soon found himself jammin' with his family, singing songs from all eras and genres.
In 2020, Birren decided to give busking a go. On his first day he was invited to play at a restaurant. A week later, he played his first paid gig. In his first year of playing music in public, Birren played at cafes, restaurants and local farmer’s markets. After playing at the markets, he received a phone call inviting him to play a two hour gig at Miami Marketta that night. With only an hour and a half worth of music on his setlist, Birren invited his cousins up on stage to fill the last half hour. After that gig, Birren had well and truly fallen in love with performing live.
In 2023, Birren completed a residency at Miami Marketta and will be performing on the big stage at St Kilda Festival 2024.
Birren’s soothing voice and his rootsy sounds takes his audience on a journey of discovery and reflection allowing plenty of time to dance and enjoy the groove.
Fresh out of the studio in 2023 Birren is set to share his music with the world. His most recent single, Greenshack, was released on 3 November 2023.
