The Early Purple

The Early Purple is the project of North East multi-instrumentalist Matt Saxon, crafting an “enchanting folk sound with chamber-pop mystique” (Obscure Sound). Since stepping out with debut single Old Eagle, Saxon has drawn BBC 6 Music airplay, sold-out headline shows, and support slots with Efterklang, Flyte, and John Francis Flynn, earning praise for his spellbinding blend of folk and alternative-pop atmospheres.

His debut EP Summer Hide arrived in 2023 with a sold-out launch at Wylam Brewery and a NARC Magazine cover, cementing The Early Purple as one of the North East’s most exciting new voices. With festival appearances, national press, and a growing fanbase both in the UK and abroad, The Early Purple continues to rise on the strength of immersive live shows and haunting, richly layered songwriting.
