Cole Chaney

Kentucky-born singer-songwriter Cole Chaney brings the weight of Appalachia into a sound that reaches far beyond traditional country and folk. Raised in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Chaney pairs deeply rooted storytelling with the raw power of ’90s rock, drawing inspiration from artists like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots.

His latest album, In the Shadow of the Mountain, pushes acoustic and string-band instrumentation into bigger, heavier territory — a sound Chaney has described as “Ralph Stanley backed up by Soundgarden.” With a full-band live show built around soaring musicianship, driving drums and songs grounded in the people and places of Appalachia, Chaney is carving out a space distinctly his own between Americana, Southern rock, folk and alternative rock.
