About Hugo Basclain

Hugo Basclain's journey into discovering his tender, vocally driven sound began in the heart of
his childhood Central Coast home, with his Mum as his first and foremost muse heading into
new EP freeway flowers.

His earliest musical memories are filled with his mother's love of singing, accompanied by a
soundtrack of grunge and various genres that played a pivotal role in shaping his deep
appreciation for blending sonic styles. Growing up, Hugo's taste in music evolved, particularly
during his high school years when he developed a profound love for R&B, drawing inspiration
from emerging artists of the moment, like Dominic Fike, Omar Apollo and Bazzi.

A year ago, after the release of his debut EP NOSTALGIA IS A LIAR which included the only
unpublished work featured in the Courteney Cox & Jenna Ortega led sixth instalment of the
iconic ‘SCREAM’ franchise alongside music from Billie Eilish and Girl In Red, Hugo made the
significant move to Los Angeles, securing a visa that marked the beginning of a bright new
chapter for the 24-year-old, a transition not just about relocating geographically but primarily
about immersing himself in the vibrant and inspiring musical melting pot LA’s so famed for.
Centrepoint to that move was Hugo finding a mentor in producer/songwriter Lukas Costas
(Jonas Blue, Devin Kennedy, Jake Miller, Pink Sweat$), who’s played an instrumental role in
pushing his sonic boundaries and introducing him to a network of musicians and creatives
who’d go on to play a really authentic part in building the most Hugo-sounding music he’s done
to date. This support system was crucial in reigniting Hugo's passion for music, transforming it
from a chore into a source of joy and creative freedom.

Hugo Basclain is an artist whose music is deeply rooted in personal experience and emotional
honesty. His move to Los Angeles and the supportive community he found there have been
transformative, allowing him to create music that is both authentic and innovative.
