Magda Novels

Magda Novels is a new international music project by Swedish singer and songwriter Magda Andersson, also part of the pirate band Ye Banished Privateers.

She has been a full time musician for several years and has released four solo records and two singles, she’s been part of three Ye Banished Privateers albums and has produced two records for other artists.

Magda Novels is an extension of Magdas artistry so far, a darker alter ego, and for the first time she’s performing her own music in english. The sound is americana/pop/rock, First Aid Kit meets PJ Harvey and Patti Smith.

"Magda Novels is my shadow self. She exists because I wanted to explore the more subconscious parts of myself through music, the irrational parts where instincts and dreams come from. If I were to try describing what the music sounds like it would be “dark americana meets pop melodies and a rock n’ roll sensation”.

In the fall of 2022 Magda announced the new music project together with a crowdfunding campaign in order to fund the release of the first EP and to start creating a fanbase for Magda Novels. The campaign raised 7000 euro and gained a lot of attention, with hundreds of people excited for the upcoming release and following live tour.

The debut EP will release in the end of March 2023 together with a music video, and be followed by an international release tour. The live act consists of a band with four musicians including Magda. The setting is drum kit, electric guitar, keys, acoustic guitar and some backing tracks to create a really full sound.
