About Emilie Moutet
French singer-songwriter Emilie Moutet debuted with her first EP, Pancakes, in 2018 under the pseudonym Willows. Her style, featuring a soft vocal timbre reminiscent of Joan Baez, a mysterious and melancholic sound, and intimate yet dark lyrics, draws influences from artists like Sufjan Stevens, Patrick Watson, Ásgeir, Tori Amos, Regina Spektor, and Fredrika Stahl.
In 2023 she performed at various festivals and events, such as the Printemps de Bourges, the Francofolies de la Rochelle and the Off festival of Avignon, as well as at New Morning (Paris) for Seule(s) en Scene.
Happy End of the World is her first studio album. Made with Paul Magne, influenced by acoustic instruments, analog synths, and familiar melodies from 2000s Anglo-Saxon pop, the album was guided by a desire to create a sensitive and comforting universe. From empowering tracks like This Is Your Sign and One Life, to soothing pop-folk songs like No Shame to Cry, and the intergenerational catharsis with I'll Be Brave, the album serves as a comforting companion in the face of modern adversities. One Life was acclaimed as Coup de Coeur by Radio France.
