About Helen Ganya

Brighton-based, Scottish-Thai musician Helen Ganya (previously releasing music under the moniker Dog In The Snow) has shown a proclivity towards dark and artful rock and off-kilter sounds, garnering praise from the likes of the Sunday Times, Uncut, Clash, Loud & Quiet and more. But her latest album Share Your Care marks a new era, building on her past sonic worlds and interspersing them with traditional Thai instrumentation, resulting in a plush, luminous, psych-tinged affair that is full of feeling.

Helen has supported the likes of John Grant, Algiers, Bess Atwell and Bombino; and played festivals such as Ypsigrock, SXSW, The Great Escape and LUCFest. She has also toured as a session musician with post-punk band Fear of Men and alternative collective Lost Horizons, founded by Cocteau Twins’ member and Bella Union boss Simon Raymonde.

Helen also holds a MSc in climate change and works for the climate and cultural organisation Julie’s Bicycle. She is on the music committee of Brian Eno’s climate change charity EarthPercent, and a member of ESEA Music which aims to create better representation of artists and professionals with East and South-East Asian heritage in the UK. She also produces and presents a regular radio show on Brighton’s Slack City, entitled Mixed Tapes, which highlights the work of musicians of colour.
