About DeeDee Austin
DeeDee Austin is a 17-year-old, multi award winning Indigenous singer/songwriter and member of the Abegweit First Nation, PE and currently resides in Fall River NS. DeeDee’s infectious energy and authentic songwriting is bringing her recognition across the Nation. DeeDee currently sits on the 2024 local JUNOS event committee as a voice representing young emerging artists, youth, local artists and the Mi’kmaq culture.
DeeDee has recently been nominated for Music Nova Scotia Indigenous Artist of the Year 2023 and Music Video of the year 2023. DeeDee garnered Music Nova Scotia's 2023 and 2022 Indigenous Artist of the Year and New Artist Recording of the Year 2022 along with Socan Young Canadian Songwriter of the Year Honourable mention, Chief Noel Doucette Youth Achievement Award, was nominated for Women in Music Canada Honours 2023, Nominated for the Lt. Governor’s Award 2023 along with being nominated for the 2023 best of Halifax Pop Artist, New Artist, Solo Artist and Music Video 2023.
The busy young artist has recently headlined the 2023 Canada Games closing ceremonies, Opened the 2023 North American Indigenous Games, opened for Aprilwine to a sold out show (10,000) , performed at the Wildfire relief benefit and has shared the stage with Classified, Neon Dreams, Matt Mays, Bruce Guthro, David Wilcox, Mr.Sauga, DJ Shub, Crownlands, , George Canyon, Jimmy Rankin and Dave Gunning to name a few.
DeeDee has currently released her second EP Stay Dancin’ (November 15,2023 full release).
