About KAT-Z
Bold, sassy, strong, and powerful, Texas-based Puerto Rican female rapper and singer-songwriter Kat-Z is announcing her presence on the world stage with a stunning debut single and an album about to drop. A woman who is unafraid to create songs that reflect the raw emotions of her journey, she has understood the limitations of the traditionally male-dominated Hip Hop narrative and transformed it with her own lyrical style, truths, and grooves.
Writing her own destiny with the passion of a woman determined to make an impact in the industry, her music is influenced by Ivy Queen, Nicky Jam, DMX, Eminem, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion to name a few, but her sound is undeniably her own. Her Latina flow is due to her upbringing in Puerto Rico and reminds every one of her struggles to be her own person in a world of challenges.
Formally trained as a classical vocalist, pianist, dancer and also spending time in an orchestra, Rap music was never part of her future. Rap and Hip Hop were considered the music of the streets and did not fit neatly into her musical education. What those initial experiences did give her however, was an innate understanding of music production and the constructs required to deliver songs without parallel.
That jump to the Latin Hip Hop scene was borne out of the frustrations that many young women feel today. Prevented and marginalized from having access to the same career opportunities, her anger slowly grew until it could be contained no further. Combining solid beats with Spanish rhymes, she began to write lyrics that mirrored her own life experiences and rapped her world into being. She has not looked back since that moment and is more than prepared to face the world head-on without fear or trepidation in her heart.
Now under the watchful gaze of producer Russ The Great aka The Beat Whisperer, her star is set to shine like it never has before. Releasing her sensational debut single ‘Perate’ in 2021, she is about to follow up that in 2022 with her extraordinary album ‘ReVenge’.
Representing two years of toil with the Russ Music Group, it explores the themes of love, hurt, pain, and rejection. From stories well told, to future possibilities unwritten, Kat-Z is about to deliver on every promise she has ever made. As the extraordinary woman herself says:
“Step aside, I have arrived”
