About Jason & Brit

Jason Garcia and Brit Woods are Jason & Brit, a synth pop duo from Austin, Texas. Meeting in 2013 through mutual friends, they realized they both shared a love of hooky pop with darker elements (Metric, Halsey), as well as classic 80s pop. This led to the formation of Cautiontape, which put out two EPs before disbanding in 2016. After a four-year break in which they both went through some major life changes, Jason began writing and recording music himself in Logic, inspired by an article about the 15th anniversary of Garageband. A clip he posted on Instagram intrigued his old friend, rekindling their partnership and resulting in “Farther”, the new duo’s first single. Their latest EP, Survival Skills, features male-female vocal interplay set against melodic keyboards and catchy beats that recall the best of 80s synthpop. Lyrically, the EP's 5 songs touch on everything from Biden's inauguration to January 6 to the Texas winter storm to distancing during the pandemic. Jason says, "A lot has happened these past two-plus years, and we've all had kind of these shared experiences around it. I liked the title because I feel like people have had to suddenly develop a lot of coping skills." The EP was produced by the band and mixed by Jason Garcia with recording help from longtime friend and producer Don Cento, and mastered by Max Lorenzen.
