About Nona

Music with Heart: Nona’s Journey of Compassion and Growth
In the small Dutch town of Uden, surrounded by the sounds of her parents’ record store, Nona grew up with music as her constant companion. Whether she was playing the flute, piano, or guitar, or spending hours lost among stacks of vinyl, music was in her blood. It wasn’t long before she realized that her future lay in melodies and lyrics.
Her first steps led her to the Herman Brood Music Academy to become an artist manager, but it quickly became clear that managing artists wasn’t her calling. Instead, Nona set out to find her own voice. Together with her close friend and guitarist Steve Bradley, she performed wherever she could – in bars, at jam sessions, and even on the streets. It was in these unpolished settings that she discovered her unique sound and began crafting her own songs.
In 2018, her debut single It’s Alright propelled her into the spotlight of the Dutch music scene. The self-titled debut album that followed garnered widespread acclaim, earning her nominations including an Edison Award for Best Newcomer. Her second album, No Tears In My Champagne (2022), showcased her artistic growth and featured hits like Forever Yours, which has come close to 20 million streams. Meanwhile, Sleeptalking, from her debut album, remains another fan favorite. These achievements are more than milestones – they reflect the deep connection she forges with her audience.
Yet, despite her growing success, Nona has remained grounded. The pandemic brought her career to a temporary pause, but it also gave her time to reflect. "I had the chance to reinvent myself," she shares. "It wasn’t just about making music anymore – it was about figuring out what I truly wanted to contribute, to the world and to myself."
Recently, Nona took on a part-time role as a Saar, helping elderly people with dementia with their daily tasks. "It might seem like a small gesture, but it gave me a sense of connection," she explains. "It reminded me how important it is to be there for others, in even the simplest ways."
This compassion has become a thread running through Nona’s music. Her songs touch on themes of personal growth, independence, and connection, striking a chord with listeners. "I want to create music that’s honest and shows that no one’s perfect," she says. "If my songs can comfort someone or make them feel less alone, then I’ve achieved my goal."
Beyond her streaming milestones, Nona’s live performances remain unmatched. From major festivals like Pinkpop and North Sea Jazz to more intimate settings, she has a rare ability to bring her audience closer. "Music, to me, is more than sounds and words; it’s a way to touch people and bring them together," she reflects.
With her heartfelt music, compassionate outlook, and impressive accomplishments, Nona continues to grow as both an artist and a person. As she puts it: "I want to keep learning, keep growing, and keep inspiring others. Whether it’s on stage or through a small gesture, it all comes down to connection."
