About Momo and the Minutes
Originally the solo venture of media composer Sam Dudley, MATM started life as a collection of reflective pop songs exploring the highs and lows of relationships during the pandemic, eventually becoming the debut EP Youth on Your Side released early 2022.
The songs sway between melodic pop and guitar-laden dreamscapes, reflecting the emotional push and pull the composer found himself in during 2020/21. Some of this insecurity is mirrored in the lyrics ("can't hold your gaze, out of place like a middle name" on In a Haze) but Dudley's desire to channel the heady, nostalgic sound of dream pop, with its shimmering guitars and gentle melodies, colours the record in an optimistic light, and realises his original ambition to create something hopeful out of an uncertain time.
Since the release of Youth on Your Side, Sam has been playing open mics with new band mates Aletia Neilly (backing vox/guitar) and Josh Phillips (bass/backing vox) before they hit the London circuit this summer and head into the studio for the first time as a collective, for a follow-up EP later in the year.
