Nikki & the Skyrockets

A thriving original music scene in Jersey City & Hoboken brought songwriters Nicole Bozzuto and Sid Whelan together at the late lamented Maxwell's Tavern. When bassist Paul Grossman entered the picture, the nucleus of a band was formed to perform a one-off "Bozzutostock" show at FM Bar in Jersey City. But the chemistry and the sound was happening and no one wanted to leave it at one night of covers, so the song sessions and shows around Northern New Jersey started happening. A first album was planned for 2020 but Covid shut everything down the very same week that NSR had chosen a studio to work in. At long last in November of 2021 the band retreated to an old house in Vermont for a week and tracked their first album, which will be completed and released on streaming platforms by Summer of 2022. Their music is melodic, driving, rockin' Americana, driven by wanderlust and big sky imagery.
