Build A Rocket

Build A Rocket is the creation of multi-instrumentalist Jen Carlson, brought to life with the collaboration of guitarist Jason Taylor, bassist/guitar/vocals Jordn Wolf, and drummer John Deal. Jen and Jason met serendipitously in a ghost town bar in the Delta, where their shared musical tastes forged an instant friendship. Jen, who has played with John for the past 20 years, brought him into the project, while Jason introduced Jared, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who has elevated the band to new heights.

With a decade’s worth of songs in the making, Build A Rocket is a fusion influences, blending math rock and punk roots with the subtle undertones of Americana and country. Drawing from the pairing of a haunted surf break, the galloping energy of a spaghetti western, the mystique of a 60’s UFO convention, and the grit of an old biker gang.

The songs, mostly rooted in real-life experiences, tell stories of adventure, heartache, solitude, and at times, murder. With gritty lyrics, they paint vivid portraits of ghosts from the past and present.
