About Jonas Brekke

Jonas Brekke
Jonas Brekke is one of Central Norway’s most distinctive and compelling singer-songwriters, known for his powerful voice, honest songwriting, and intense stage presence.
Following his critically acclaimed breakthrough album Tomorrow’s Avenue (2022), Brekke has played sold-out shows and festivals across Norway, including Pstereo, Trondheim Calling, Parkenfestivalen, Rootsfestivalen, Oslo Americana Festival, Nidaros Blues, and Dark Season Blues in Svalbard. He has also performed internationally in cities including Berlin and Copenhagen.
On April 17, 2026, Brekke released The Price of Progress — an ambitious and exploratory album that moves between intimate singer-songwriter moments, driving rock, big choruses, and modern indie. Blending americana, heartland rock, and indie pop, the album explores identity, relationships, doubt, technology, and life in a rapidly changing world.
With a voice that can move from vulnerable and stripped-back to powerful and explosive, Brekke’s live performances are defined by intensity, warmth, and a genuine connection with the audience.
The press has been enthusiastic:
“He aims high and lands perfectly. He sings as if everything depends on it. Jonas Brekke is an exceptionally exciting live artist, with a voice that can fill stadiums.”
— Kristina Bye, Adresseavisen ★★★★★ (2026)
“Jonas Brekke dares to explore, challenge genres, and expand his musical expression — without compromising the honesty and authenticity at the heart of his music.”
— Øyvind Rønning (2026)
“Jonas Brekke is an extraordinary talent — and with his new album, he has delivered one of the best Norwegian albums of the year.”
— Tormod Reiersen (2026)
“The artists it is natural to compare Brekke to are people like Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. I’m not suggesting that he is at their level, but these are the kind of artists you have to turn to when looking for points of reference. Brekke has something genuinely his own, and he writes songs that truly hit home.”
— Ole Jacob Hoel, Adresseavisen ★★★★★
“I have no future as a fortune teller, but if Jonas Brekke were to become a major name both here at home and abroad, I wouldn’t be surprised. What a voice! What songs!”
