About Ashleigh Holmes
Ashleigh Holmes is completing her final year at Oklahoma City University where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Music in Composition, studying with Ed Knight. During her time at OCU, she has served as both the Treasurer and the Organization Liaison for Project 21 (a student-run organization dedicated to the promotion of new compositions). As the organization’s liaison, she is tasked with leading and creating collaborative projects to join the community and new music. Some of her projects include collaborations with the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment, artist Kiona Wooten-Millirons and the OCU School of Visual Arts, and OCU’s OPERAtions. While completing this degree, Holmes spent four years studying conducting with Oklahoma City University’s Jeff Grogan (of the OCU Symphony Orchestra) and Matthew Mailman (of the OCU Wind Ensemble and Wind Philharmonic). During this time, she has conducted at Project 21 concerts, percussion ensemble concerts, and at composers’ recitals. To further her studies, she has attended both the UMKC Conducting Workshop and the ICWF Conducting Workshop where she worked with Steve Davis, Robert Carnochan, Joe Parisi, Tonya Mitchell-Spradlin, Larry Rachleff, and Donald Schleicher.Along with those aforementioned, Holmes credits her success to Jeremy Parr, Angie Taylor, Clint Brown, Andy Heitz, Sarah Neely, David Steffens, Patrick Womack, Luis Rivera, and Tommy Dobbs. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree, she plans to pursue graduate degrees in Orchestral Conducting.
