About The Rover Boys Trio
BIO
The Rover Boys Trio consists of veteran New York rockabilly musicians Brian "Bobo" Hack (guitar/vocals/songwriter, Rhythm Bound, Screamin' Rebel Angels, Bobo and the Blue & Lonesome Two) and Bobby Moller (drums, Little Lesley and the Bloodshots, The Spastiks, Bobo and the Blue & Lonesome Two, The Bobby Lee Combo), and Steve Spano (upright bass, The Deep Grass). Formed in 2018 as Max Jukes and the mp3 (with a short stint as Bobo and the Blue & Lonesome Two), the trio settled on its current nomenclature and lineup in 2021. Combining originals with well-chosen covers from the rich history of rockabilly, '50s R&B, and hillbilly bop, The Rover Boys Trio are ready to tear it up right at your next barn dance or backwoods bacchanal.
Influences upon the band are--aside from the usual suspects such as Elvis, Gene Vincent, and Carl Perkins, artists such as Hayden Thompson, Mac Curtis, Buddy Holly, Bobby Roberts, Jimmy Wages, Ronnie Dawson, Francoise Hardy, Little Walter, Son House, Otis Rush, The Staples Singers and Magic Sam. The Trio is also fans of more contemporary groups such as The Polecats, Go Cat Go, High Noon, Boz Boorer, Big Sandy & the Fly-Rite Boys, The Bellfuries, J.D. McPherson, The Centuries, Nick Shoulders, The Greasemarks, and many others. As the primary songwriter of the group, Bobo is influenced not only by the rockabilly pioneers but also by writers as diverse as Connie Converse, Jimmy Webb, Leonard Cohen, Morrissey, Harry Nilsson, Lennon & McCartney, Harlan Howard, Dolly Parton, Roger Miller, and Phil Ochs.
Venues, 2018-Present: Otto's Shrunken Head, NYC; The Cobra Club, Brooklyn; Desmond's Tavern, NYC; Roxy + Dukes, Dunellen, NJ; Kasteli Cafe, NYC; The Bitter End, NYC; Freddy's Bar, Brooklyn; Buckley's, Valley Stream, NY; Reserve Association, Elmwood, NJ, Silvana, NYC.
