About Tanner Burch
Tanner Burch’s journey to country music stardom is one of resilience, reinvention, and unwavering passion. An All-American Middle Linebacker at Gardner Webb, Tanner had dreams of professional football—until an untimely knee injury derailed his tryout with the CFL. In the years that followed, Tanner explored a wide range of careers—from medical sales to bartending, gym management, college football coaching, high school teaching, and even working as a barnhand, carpenter, and hibachi chef. But despite his varied pursuits, nothing truly resonated. That is, until fate intervened.
After the passing of his beloved grandmother, Tanner inherited her 1985 Ibanez guitar. Inspired by her legacy, he began learning to play and soon found himself writing his own songs. But it wasn’t until the loss of his brother in June 2021 that Tanner’s world shattered, leaving him feeling unmoored and searching for something more. It was then that the music world called to him louder than ever before.
Determined to pursue his true calling, Tanner sold everything he owned and hit the road in his 2006 Toyota Tundra, living out of the camper top while playing small towns and dive bars across the country. Through his experiences with love, heartache, alcoholism, and the raw truths of the human condition, Tanner penned songs that captured the essence of the troubadour lifestyle.
In 2024, Tanner recorded his breakthrough EP Rugged Soul in the backcountry hills of South Pittsburgh, TN, while getting sober. This raw and emotional project helped catapult him to Nashville, where his career quickly began to soar. Now a regular at the iconic Layla’s Honkytonk, Tanner has also performed at premier country showcases like Honky Tonk Tuesday, Southern Nites, and Whiskey Jam. He's shared the stage with artists such as Hannah Dasher, Them Dirty Roses, and Jesse Daniel, and even graced legendary venues like the Broken Spoke in Texas.
Currently, Tanner is hard at work on his next project—a highly anticipated 8-song EP that will showcase his unique blend of classic outlaw country with a modern edge. As he continues to perfect his sound in Nashville, Tanner Burch is proving that sometimes, the hardest roads lead to the most rewarding destinations. His rugged soul and undeniable talent are taking him places, and country music is better for it.
