Dreams Aside

Every person dreams of what they want in the limited time we have in life. But for many, those dreams are never pursued. For others, they trade those dreams for a life that is more tame. Is this truly the world that we wish to create?

The music of Dreams Aside is a mix of metalcore rhythms and soaring lead guitars, which will make you bang your head while admiring the work being done on the fretboard. The band is the brainchild of guitarist Marc Hall. It started out as a solo project but Marc dreamt of playing the music of Dreams Aside onstage, which would require a full lineup. Marc now shares songwriting duties with fellow guitarist Justin Crandall, with the rhythm section consisting of drummer Brady Outcelt and Mike Egan on bass guitar. Marc and Brady played in the band Cimmerian with Justin and are in the band Smiling Politely with Mike. These familiarities help form the strong bond heard in the music of Dreams Aside, as the members have been working with each other for years.

While the band did not initially have a full time vocalist, they did not want to wait to share their music with the world. This led to collaborations with guest vocalists Jon Howard (Threat Signal, Arkaea) and Bjorn Strid (Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra). Dreams Aside then worked with Jerry Achu (aEstyria, Daybreak Medusa) - who would go on to become the band’s vocalist - on their songs “The Afterthought” and “Defending Silence”. In December 2020, Dreams Aside completed their lineup and continue to write and release new music.
