About Josan Pinto

Josan Pinto
Talented, original, passionate, and multifaceted are adjectives that describe composer, arranger, producer, songwriter, singer, and guitarist Josan Pinto. His music comes alive with a wide range of experimentation with sound and musical styles such as rock, pop, funk, reggae, jazz, and electronic music. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Josan is currently based in Houston, Texas.
In 2004, he founded the group Pink Tomate and wrote, produced, and recorded the full-length album Zumbador which was released in 2007. Josan describes the album as a psychedelic introspection of past, present, and future emotions. In 2009, he formed the Josan Pinto group and released the EP, A Night In Baghdad, which is an anti-war and anti-death statement based on the famous jazz standard A Night In Tunisia and the U.S. National Anthem's Woodstock performance by Jimi Hendrix. In 2014, while living in Lima, Peru, Josan formed the experimental rock group LoveLadyKlang with Peruvian pianist Pepe Céspedes and Colombian drummer Felipe Calderón. The group recorded a series of live sessions in which experimentation and improvisation with sound was in the forefront.
Josan has also designed, directed, and successfully implemented comprehensive musical education programs for children and teenagers. He also worked as a university professor at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) Music School teaching music reading, ear training, and Latin American music history to third and fourth-year university students.
