About AJ Baal
Audric Jonathan (AJ) Baal loves to share his passion of experiencing music through performance, collaboration, ensemble work and instruction.
Before college, AJ had studied under Lillian Schaube and was an active student member in the Southern Delaware Music Teachers Association where he has participated in many Piano Marathon fund-raising events, recitals, and solo piano festivals and events and has earned a high school diploma from the National Music Teacher Association. AJ is also the recipient of the SDMTA Music Scholarship, the Coastal Concerts Scholarship Award, and the University of Delaware Music Department Scholarship in Piano Performance.
A Delaware native, AJ received his undergraduate degree at the University of Delaware and is a Piano Performance Major with minors in Music Management and Theater Production. As an undergrad, AJ studied under Christine Delbeau, and was actively apart of multiple collaborative performances, taught and accompanied for the Community Music School, and was selected to be the keyboardist for the UD Symphony Orchestra, the Cinema Series Chamber Orchestra, Master Players Concert Series, Opera Chamber Orchestra and other solo recitals at UD and around the Delaware area.
He later earned a Masters of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from Westminster Choir College at Rider University. Here, he had the privilege of studying under internationally renowned pianist and pedagogue Ingrid Clarfield. He also received pedagogical instruction from Phylis Lehrer and was able to teach group and private piano lessons to young children through the Westminster Music Conservatory. He also interned in group piano learning at the collegiate level with Thomas Parente. AJ also had the honor of being a part of the Westminster Symphonic Choir and performing with the Philadelphia Orchestra as a chorister.
Besides running and managing a piano studio, AJ has recently been arranging music for different ensembles of various genres, including orchestral, jazz, gospel and classical music. He also serves as event technician for various local concerts and specializes in creative lighting design, another way of expressing music in different art form. AJ also loves to collaborate with other musicians for weddings and other music-filled events.
