Key O' Sea

Key O’ Sea were born quite casually as a duo in the dusty attic of Sam the Bald. It was the hot Summer of 2016 on the docks of Bologna. Elijah the Quill and Sam revisited a handful of sea shanties and recorded some of them. Two years later, notorious pirate Jack the Varg was asked to join the crew while he was hiding from His Majesty’s henchmen. Back in those days, the crew was incomplete, the ship needed a boatswain and the choice fell upon Mickey the Brute, a reckless sailor who had lost all his belongings (and his sixth wife) playing poker. El Bandido Misterioso, a nameless Spanish mutineer, and She-pirate Raw Bertha jumped in to complete the crew a few months later after a period of apprenticeship in which they proved their valour in battle. 


Our aim is to revisit traditional songs with a specific focus on maritime music, and amuse ourselves by introducing elements of pop, rock, metal and punk culture, and famous movie soundtracks. Our favourite stages are smelly pubs, infamous bars, ship decks, drifting rafts, secret coves, rebel hideouts, mountain shelters, your living room with fireplace.
