About Alfred Cornelius

AS a violinplayer in bands like Draumir and Deadwood, Alfred Cornelius earned critical acclaim of beeing a bright and passionate live-performer on his fiddle. Born and raised in Bergen (Norway), he moved to Oslo together with Jo Inge Frøytlog and formed a band called Mir, renamed Draumir, releasing two albums, where their debut was nominated as best newcomer of the year at the norwegian Grammy Awards. Alfred Cornelius has later played violin on recordings with various artists and bands, and played live with acts like Marbletown, Rolling Thunder, Lucky Lefty, Common Beet and Suze. His debutalbum as a solo-artist is a collection of songs composed during the last seven years. The lyrics on the album High and Solitary, are poems by famous poets like William Butler Yeats, Edgar Allen Poe, Christopher Brennan, Paul Verlain and William Ernest Henley. Alfred has also been fortunate to use lyrics of Linn C. Marthinsen (I see my love) and Philip Ripman (In your arms). Only the song For Real have lyrics penned by Alfred himself. The artwork on the album is done by his brother-in-law, Inge Knoff, on flickr knowned as kong niffe. The music is a mix of various influences, both old and new. Nostalgia of the 60’s and 70’s are fused with sounds of today.
