Purple Hurt

Based in D.C., Purple Hurt is comprised of vocalist Sednah, guitarist Hurtful C, drummer Baby Zeezus and bassist Hellmet Gyal. The band released their first single, Black Star in October which received raving reviews and sold out shows in local venues including Dwell, DC9, Dew Drop Inn and a highlight in the critically-acclaimed and award-winning Indelible documentary which highlights artists in the DMV’s alternative music scene.

Following the release of their debut single, Purple Hurt was selected to compete in Afropunk’s Battle of the Bands competition which provided them with national attention. Going off the momentum of this incredible feat and the release of their second single Free, Purple Hurt has released their debut album, Postcards of The Sun which has been referred to as “an ironic but reassuring hug amid our country’s state of pandemic pandemonium.”
