About WendellBsounds
St. Louis is where the blues travels throughout the city and where the sounds of R&B sensation Wendell B are taking the world by storm. Now CEO and President of his own music label, Smoothway Music, St. Louis is very proud of this homegrown balladeer.
First we had a good time with Wendell’s debut CD “Good Times”, which has received rave reviews from all over the world. Next was the follow-up smash CD, “Time to Relax: Love, Life, & Relationships” in which Wendell is simply telling the truth. Then as Christmas fell upon us, he blessed us all with a smooth R&B Christmas CD entitled “Save A Little Room for Me: I’m Coming Home for Christmas.” Now that it’s a new year and time to refresh his fans’ minds, Wendell says it’s simply time to get back to business with his brand new CD entitled “Back Ta Bid’ness”.
Being compared to his idols, Freddie Jackson, Luther Vandross, Barry White, Will Downing, and one of his favorite artist, Joe, this laid back entertainer’s love affair with music began at a very young age. Wendell made his foray into the music industry at the age of five by joining the gospel group the Sensational Wonders. He spent a good ten years singing for the Lord before his vocal tastes were whetted by the sounds of rhythm and blues. “At first I had to hide my interest of R&B music from my Mom because she was into the church and she didn’t play that”, he laughs. As Wendell reached maturity, both in years and vocal ability, he began performing with local groups such as the Dream, a group that he formed in high school, and Visions. While touring in his hometown and surrounding areas, it was then that he really learned the importance of stage presence through the tutelage of local legends Marvin Rice, lead vocalist for Masters Touch, and Carl Holmes, lead vocalist of Visions, who schooled him in perfecting runs and other vocal techniques.
The decision to go solo, after having spent two decades in groups, was based upon his desire to follow in the entrepreneurial footsteps of others in the industry. Wendell left St. Louis in an effort to search for his heart’s desire, his love for music. He spent several years in Minneapolis, MN, the home of where many great legends were born; Prince, Morris Day & the Time, Mint Condition, Terry Lewis, and Jimmy Jam. Stopping in several other cities along the way, Wendell landed in Atlanta, GA where the music scene began to take off for him. It took some time for people to believe the sounds that were coming out of his mouf’, but when they began to listen to his music, the name of this soulful balladeer, Wendell B, began to spread.
Delivering a smooth and silky sound with his music, telling nothing but the truth in his lyrics, while filling your soul with a feeling of ‘yes, yes, yes’, the six foot five and a half, 298 pound stature of Wendell B, makes you know that when he opens his mouth he means business. That’s why he entitled his new CD “Back Ta Bid’ness”.
“My goal is to leave an indelible imprint on the business. You see, fans deserve the best and I intend to give them the best. With my music, I intend to reach hearts and homes everywhere, so until I take my last breath, nothing but the sound of music, love, keeping it real, and telling the truth, will represent the name Wendell B.”
One of Wendell’s singles from the new CD “Back Ta Bid’ness” entitled “Waiting On You To Call”, featuring Poppa Justify aka Q from Mississippi, will let you know that this new CD is a continuation of Wendell’s persistence in delivering one hit after another. To break the monotony, he delivers a duet with his background singer Trina aka T. and of course, Diggy’s on there too, spitting lyrics unbelievably – “it’s a must – we’ve been together too long”. On the track entitled “I’m Staying”, you’ll hear the smooth vocals of Lamont Hadley singing along with Wendell B on background vocals showing you that harmony and unity can still make you smile. Then he comes back to get you on your feet and ready to jam with the club banger “That’s When I Get Loose”.
So, you better get ready! Make sure that you have all of his music because it’s the only way to know where he started. That way you will understand where he’s at with his music today. Ladies and gentlemen, once again, introducing the soul satisfier, the man himself, Wendell B.
