About Kenneth Rankins
Born and raised in Monroeville, Alabama and now pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter in Los Angeles, California. Kenneth’s musical style is as grounded in modern RnB as his roots.
Kenneth has spent the last two years cultivating a music career in Los Angeles, securing singing gigs at the city’s top clubs and music lounges as well as performing on radio and TV. He draws a lot of inspiration from vocal legends like Stevie Wonder, Donny Hatahway, and Gerald Levert. He has an obsession with Acoustic Guitar, Piano, '90s R&B and gospel. Kenneth has his own unique brand of R&B contrasts his warm, soulful vocals with slick RnB inspired arrangements.
Kenneth Rankins presence is captivating without being overwhelming, he sings only from his personal experiences of life, love, and his journey of being an Imperfect person. He doesn’t just stick with one genre of music, his vocal can pretty much do anything but his songs on the Imperfect project are influenced by his gospel roots, RnB melodies and everything in between!
The title of the LP stems from Kenneth being told how to look, what to sound like, and simply how to fit into stereotypical mainstream R&B. “I am because I am Imperfect” is the statement of Kenneth saying that this is me, and this is who I am going to be.
Kenneth’s debut LP, Imperfect was released on January 17th, 2020. The point of this project was to create an LP highlighting Love, Heartbreak and Healing. The LP features R&B with some characteristics of Gospel meaning in basically something for everyone that loves the old school genre of RnB Music with a splash of modern RnB.
