About Bible Belt Blues

Bible Belt Blues

The Vondensteins met five years ago on Christmas Day in 2014 after Paula placed an ad in Christian Mingle asking for a Christian musician who would not set limits on what God could accomplish through him. Harold responded and the rest is history.

Everything about Bible Belt Blues is counter-culture: from the crafting of their bold, biblically sound lyrics that address sin, repentance, and salvation, to the recapturing of a musical genre that many say is a dying art, early Mississippi blues. After studying the history of Mississippi’s blues, Harold and Paula Vega Vondenstein discovered the hauntingly beautiful D & E minor chords of Bentonia blues that lend themselves so perfectly to full-fledged repentance songs and songs for church revivals that are so lacking on Christian radio and in churches these days. It was a match made in heaven and Bible Belt Blues was officially launched in September of 2018.

Bible Belt Blues’ music was created to facilitate healing, restoration, and renewal, and for those who are struggling with anger, confusion, and depression, and for those who lack an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Harold and Paula Vega Vondenstein take their calling as Christian musicians seriously, believing that a song can soften a hardened heart to be receptive to the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ.

2019 has been an amazing year for the Vondensteins with the release of two Christian albums, “I’m Not Ashamed to Be a Christian” and “My God, My God” to winning the coveted Josie Music Award for Gospel/ Christian Duo. Amazingly, thirteen of their original twenty three songs have already received radio airplay thanks to Bill and Kat Radio’s Cross 104 Gospel Blues Hour Syndicated Program, WQFX Power Gospel Radio, Country Blast Radio's Multi-Genre Hour, and BWH Music Group’s WNIR Radio. Bible Belt Blues' music has placed numerous times on the Roots Music Report during 2019. Both albums placed on their Top Religious Albums of the Year Chart for 2019.

Bible Belt Blues' music can be streamed on Spotify or available for download purchase at the CD Baby Music Store. Physical CDs are available at special events and on their Bible Belt Blues website. The Vondensteins are working on their third album while actively seeking bookings for concerts at churches, theatres, and colleges. www.BibleBeltBlues.org
