About Fragile House
With its wide range of influences and colours, Fragile House is impossible to pigeon hole. Think ‘roots’ inspired music, woven with threads of Americana, folk, country and blues, all topped off by the distinctive vocals of singer-songwriter Jemima Price – “an intriguing and effective mix of Kate Bush, Delta Goodrem and Dolly”. The Musician
It’s a unique, easy-going sound. Live, backed by their talented band, Fragile House are great to watch; a beguiling and gritty set. These are well-crafted lyrical songs, to take on you an emotional journey – sensitive, yet dynamic; emotional yet toe-tappingly good.
A collaboration between Jemima and writer-guitarist Mirek Latosek, Fragile House is UK based. Life partners, and some time protagonists, their relationship has spawned and nurtured their music. Their credits include supporting Martin Simpson, New York based singer-songwriter Annie Keating, and being showcased on BBC Introducing South with Phil Jackson.
Before forming Fragile House, Jemima had a career as a solo artist. With two albums and a book of poetry under her belt, she was hailed as a “talent to watch” by Cosmopolitan. She was also compared by Time Out to Kate Bush and has supported artists such as the much-missed late Bap Kennedy, Jools Holland and Deacon Blue.
A firm musical partnership was formed when she met and married Mirek, who came to live in the UK from Poland fifteen years ago. Jemima cites her influences as including Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, and Emmy Lou Harris; whilst Mirek’s talents have been honed from years of performing everything from Rock to Country .
Whilst their influences and backgrounds were diverse, through writing and initially performing as The Jemima Price Band, the couple found common ground in Americana, culminating in the couple releasing an impressive and sophisticated debut album No Alibi For Alice. This features guest performances by bass legend Herbie Flowers, and BJ Cole; it received glowing reviews.
The band has recently released their second album Fragile House, which Mirek both recorded and produced. They also had the great pleasure of working with Bruce Kaphan on the album
- renowned producer/multi-instrumentalist and former member of the American Music Club with album credits that include, Sheryl Crow, The Black Crowes, R.E.M., and many others.
“Fragile House stirs pop, rock, roots and country flavours, the resultant mix an undoubtedly tasty dish with commercial appeal.” RnR Magazine.
