That's a great question, Karen!
It's a funny story, truly I often laugh at myself recounting it; although I try not to laugh too much as you know what they say, laughing at yourself is the first sign of sudden death. Like my uncle Wilford, there he was right as rain laughing at a comment he'd made about my aunt Lucy's fashion sense and the next second he was dead... marble ashtray right to the frontal lobe... sad.
Still it is a funny story, these four musicians who all happened to play different instruments (you know... big guitar, small guitar, those barrels you hit), decided to play those instruments together in specific time intervals, based on a recurring pattern of musical notes, accompanied by a rhythmic pronunciation of vocal sounds that were not dissimilar to their spoken languages… classic stuff.
They liked it, made it a thing, and wanted you to hear it. So go forth, Karen, go forth and know this as the murray. beginnings.
