Tim Allen Thomas

Tim Thomas (born May 29th, 1972) is an American indie singer-songwriter. He has been active as a composer, recording artist, and live performer since the early 1990’s, and is known for personal, introspective lyrics with sweeping melodies sung delicately over shimmering acoustic guitars.
Born in St. Paul and raised in Red Wing, MN, Thomas picked up the guitar at age 18 during his first year of college in Wisconsin. Thomas began writing songs and formed a band shortly after and has been writing, performing and recording songs ever since both with bands and as a solo singer/songwriter.
Thomas cut his teeth performing as a singer/songwriter over the course of several years as the house musician at Jimmy’s Pub, located in the historic St. James Hotel in Red Wing, MN as well as many years of solo and full band shows in the clubs and bars of the Twin Cities music scene. Thomas has released several studio albums as well as several EP’s throughout the course of his career, both as a solo act and with full bands.
Thomas has been writing songs for almost three decades and is known for lyrics about life, love, whiskey, bad choices, underdogs and redemption, many of which recollect melancholy tales from his life.
Thomas continues to write and perform in his home state of Minnesota and cites The Replacements, Gear Daddies, Pink Floyd, Neil Young and James Taylor among others as primary influences on his work. Thomas’ live shows are a mix of original songs and covers that run the gamut of artists from the 1970’s to today.
Thomas is currently a recording artist for Gateway Records and is working on a full-length studio release due out in mid-2020. The album will contain songs from the past two decades, most of which remain staples and crowd favorites at Thomas’ live shows.
