About Fast Trains
Combining inventive alt pop with a cryptic visual space known as ‘ourWorld’, Fast Trains is the boundary-pushing solo project of Portsmouth born songwriter Tom Wells.
Putting a modern take on alternative icons like XTC, Radiohead and Talk Talk, their string of self-produced, self-released EPs has led to national songwriting awards, rousing festival performances, support tours with the likes of Turin Brakes, and a wealth of UK radio play from BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing.
Now Fast Trains are embarking on the release of their debut album, ‘Escape to ourWorld’ - a 10-song cycle about escapism, told through a series of characters and situations set in the mysterious ourWorld. Penned during a 2-week residency at the former home of composer Imogen Holst, the record brings together the members of the Fast Trains live band and builds further on the dense sonic landscapes showcased in their first few EPs.
“Rich and beautifully produced.” — Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6 Music
“Absolutely superb.” — Charlie Ashcroft, Amazing Radio
“Inventively melodic, harmonically clever, sparkling and invigorating.” — Neil March, Trust the Doc
Thoughtful, uplifting, colourful and cryptic, it’s time to Escape to ourWorld.
