About Kevin Winchester
Kevin Winchester is a North Carolina native and now lives in the Waxhaw area. He holds a BA in English from Wingate University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University. He is currently the Director of the Writing Center at Wingate University where he also teaches Creative Writing, Composition classes, and Literature classes. His debut novel, Sunflower Dog, will be available April 7th, 2020.
Waiting on Something to Happen, Winchester’s short story of love, loss, and grief, won the 2013 Thomas Wolfe Fiction Award. His forthcoming novel, Sunflower Dog, is scheduled for release in spring of 2020 by SFK Press. Main Street Press published his short story collection, Everybody’s Gotta Eat, in the summer of 2009.
Other short fiction has appeared in Gulf Coast Literary and Arts Journal, Story South, Barrelhouse, Southern Hum, and the anthology Everything But the Baby. His creative non-fiction has appeared in the Novello Press anthology entitled Making Notes: Music in the Carolinas and also in Tin House Literary Magazine, The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature, and Referential Magazine. Winchester is also a Breadloaf Writer’s Conference Wait-Staff alum.
