I can’t express enough how incredibly crafted their art is. An intimate duo that is tight in their sparse moments yet can get impressively hug, all while telling captivating stories. I’ll always be a fan of these two!

About Natural Satellite
Love and music: two things that have been at the very center of Karli and Jason’s relationship since the beginning. Karli, a classically trained cellist, met Jason Reisdorf in 2011 while attending the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point (UWSP). They quickly fell in love. After earning their music degrees, they moved to the Fox Valley in hopes of creating a new life for themselves. Jason, a talented saxophonist, had no problem immersing himself in the Fox Valley’s bustling music scene and was soon performing in a number of groups. Karli, however, was unsure of herself as a musician and decided to focus her attention on other interests. It wasn't until Karli found herself in a deep depression that she began regularly playing her instrument again. She started writing songs as a way to heal, process, and explore her innermost feelings. After showing Jason a few of these songs, the couple began writing and creating together. From there, Natural Satellite was born.
Since then, Natural Satellite has released three EPs of work titled “From Ash,” “Peace of Mind,” and “So Blue.” The duo blends the genres of indie, pop, folk, and jazz into a truly unique and refreshing sound. Karli explores themes of mental health, personal growth, and spirituality in her lyrics, and draws upon her own life experiences. Jason flows effortlessly around Karli’s unique style of playing, and when the pair harmonize, it’s as if they are one instrument. Improvisation plays an important role in their music. Jason often solos, opening up their songs and allowing for new colors and textures to flow in. When you watch Natural Satellite perform live, you can feel the love and trust between the couple, and the absolute joy it brings them to make music.
“First of all the main instruments here are cello and saxophone which is a very welcome deviation from the acoustic guitar and piano combo. The music leans towards jazz that is combined with accessible vocal melodies which give it a slightly more indie pop feel. It reminds me of a group you might here on a Saturday night at a place like the Green Mill in Chicago. The songs reflect the moon, some noir and unequivocally sound better when the sun has gone down.” - Dan Weston, ‘Divide and Conquer’
