«We are CROSSPLANE and we play rock‘n‘roll!» So much for a ballsy announcement by these kerosin-oozing hellhounds of heavy sounds! Their touring/gig schedule is an impressive proof of this cocky confidence. The characteristic CROSSPLANE sound consists of rude Punk attitude, raw Rock, Metal chunks and a hefty helping of groove. Of course their current album „Backyard Frenzy“ is brimming with these highly explosive ingredients – produced by Waldstreet & Denroad (Grip Inc., Sodom, Moonspell, to name a few) and frontman Marcel „Celli“ Mönnig (released 2017 via 7Hard).

Live shows are extremely important to hone the above mentioned earthy sounds – since CROSSPLANE saw the light of day back in 2009, the band has delivered sweat-drenched and enthusiastic performances galore. The line-up, with Marcel ’Celli’ Mönnig (voc), Andrew Barrett (bass), and Mark Bridgeman (drums), is notorious for wild headbanging, lots of beers, and rocking crowds – the boys built this reputation by working hard on tour with scene greats such as Black Label Society,`77, Chrome Division, or Sodom. Is it possible to condense such overwhelming energy and live clout and put it on an album? The debut „Class Of The Hellhound High“ (2013) put all sceptics to rest – and the media were gushing: «These ten crispy songs rock and really leave you in a good mood» (Metal Hammer Germany), «The mighty sound is testing your speakers, the songs are ear candy, and the lyrics are easy to sing along!» (Metal.de). An impressive first album indeed – but of course, the German Rock machines had another thing coming, unleashing „Masturboned“ (2015), a feisty Rock‘n‘Roll manifesto. Since then, they have performed not only at legendary ‘Wacken Open Air’, but also at a bunch of other festivals in Germany, such as ‘Rock Am Stück’ or ‘Werner Das Rennen’. «Rock’n’Roll is an attitude, it has to break free. People just want to dance, and everything will be ok. Sometimes, you gotta think less and just go with the flow», Celli explains the CROSSPLANE philosophy. „Backyard Frenzy“, the combo's current rough backyard masterpiece, offers 14 diverse and dirty rock ‘n‘ roll smashers, produced by sound wizards Waldemar Sorychta and Dennis Koehne who were able to capture and deliver CROSSPLANE's trademark rough and powerful sound.
Be it on an album or live, the boys always go full throttle and will transform any apathetic Friday evening beer slurping slump into a frenetic party monster within the first two songs of their gig! But rumour has it that Celli and his gang have yet another ace up their sleeves and some killer song ideas for the next album have already been flying around in some corroded car parts-laden, dirty garage in a grimy secret backyard... Who knows what they will come up with next? 2020 is the hellhounds’ designated year for a new album. Recording has begun and the monster is coming to life like dieseldrenched Frankenstein. Whatever it'll be, one things's for sure: the next CROSSPLANE release will be oozing dirt, sweat, beer, and fun because the band and the fans know that good rock is supposed to smell like that!

‘Wir sind Crossplane und wir spielen Rock`n`roll!’ Eine breitbeinige und direkte Ansage der Ruhrpott Höllenhunde, die definitiv Diesel im Blut haben! Beweise für diese Authentizität liefern sie zur Genüge mit Shows an fast jedem Wochenende. Der typische CROSSPLANE Sound lebt von der rotzigen Attitüde des Punks gepaart mit rohem Rock, der für die Straße gemacht ist, sowie Metal Einschüben und einer gehörigen Portion Groove inklusive. Diese hochprozentige Mixtur bestimmt natürlich auch das Geschehen auf dem dritten Album „Backyard Frenzy“, das von Waldstreet & Denroad (u.a. Grip Inc., Sodom, Moonspell) sowie Frontröhre Marcel „Celli“ Mönnig produziert wurde und am 24.02.2017 über 7Hard erschienen ist.
Einen großen Stellenwert bei derart urwüchsigen Klängen nehmen da natürlich die Live-Shows ein, die bei CROSSPLANE seit Bandgründung 2009 ein Garant für schweißtreibendes Vergnügen sind. Die Band bestehend aus Rampensau Marcel ’Celli’ Mönnig, Andrew Barrett am Tieftöner sowie Mark Bridgeman an den Kesseln, ist berühmt-berüchtigt für fliegende Matten, Bierfontänen und rockende Massen! Ein Ruf, den man sich u.a. auf Tour mit Größen wie Black Label Society,`77, Chrome Division, oder Sodom erkämpfte. Lässt sich soviel unbändige Energie und Live-Wucht überhaupt auf Konserve bannen? Das Debüt „Class Of The Hellhound High“ ließ 2013 alle Zweifler verstummen und fand nicht zuletzt bei der Fachpresse großen Anklang: «Die zehn knackigen Songs fetzen und machen tatsächlich richtig Laune», urteilte der Metal Hammer und Metal.de meinte: «Der Sound kracht schön fett aus den Boxen, die Songs gehen schnell ins Ohr, die Texte lassen sich schnell mitsingen!» Ein amtlicher Einstand, doch die Ruhrpott-Rocker haben noch lange nicht genug: mit „Masturboned“ legten sie 2015 ihr ultimatives Rock ‘n‘ Roll Manifest vor und spielten seit dem nicht nur auf dem legendären Wacken Open Air sondern auch landein, landaus Festivals wie Rock Am Stück oder Werner Das Rennen. «Rock ’n’ Roll ist ein Lebensgefühl, das muss einfach raus. Die Leute möchten tanzen, dann ist alles gut. Manchmal einfach weniger Gedanken machen, einfach laufen lassen», erklärt Celli die CROSSPLANE Philosophie, die aus allen Poren schwitzt. „Backyard Frenzy“ das neueste alkoholgetränkte Hinterhof-Meisterwerk besteht aus 14 abwechslungsreichen dreckigen Rock ‘n‘ Roll Krachern, die von den beiden Soundmagiern Waldemar Sorychta und Dennis Koehne an den Reglern mit dem perfekten rauen und kraftstrotzenden Sound versehen wurden. Los geht es mit dem eingängigen „Love & Hate“. Der erste Singletrack „Dance With The Devil“, zu dem es auch einen amüsanten Videoclip gibt, könnte quasi aus der Feder von Lemmy persönlich stammen. „Blackness Of Souls“ klingt wie ein Zwiegespräch zwischen Black Sabbath und Black Label Society. Man spürt förmlich, dass es CROSSPLANE mit diesem Album wissen wollen. Ein gutes Beispiel dafür ist der monumentale Rocker „Master Of Desaster“, der bei jedem Hördurchlauf wächst und sich immer weiter ins Langzeitgedächtnis fräst. In die gleiche Kerbe schlägt „Alcoholic Teenage War Queen“. Doch auch Songs wie „Horizon“, „Dr. Snowwhite“, „Killer‘s Diary“ oder das finale „Warlord“ bieten Heavy Rock Unterhaltung vom Feinsten.
Audiovisuell gibt es von CROSSPLANE mit dem aktuellen Musikvideo zu „Dance With The Devil“ gehörig was auf die Mütze! Der Clip im Comic Style, gedreht von den Machern der EMPs Heavy Metal Maniacs Serie, muss man einfach gesehen haben. Wer für Rock ‘n‘ Roll brennt und schon mal von einer Band namens Motörhead gehört hat, wird hier voll bedient.
