About Doctor Lo
Doctor Lo Faber founded God Street Wine in 1988 and led the influential jam band through six albums and endless cross-country tours until the band's breakup in 1999; he also produced two ambitious rock operas before detouring into a Ph. D. and seven years as a college professor. In 2010 GSW began a series of occasional reunions, and in 2019 Faber returned to music full time releasing the country-flavored "Bottomland." During the pandemic he turned to YouTube videos and live streams and made his 2nd Doctor Lo album, "Claiborne Avenue," for release in June 2021, alongside touring with a new band of old friends that includes Ted Marotta and Tom Pirozzi of Ominous Seapods.
"Anybody who was a live music fan in the ’90s most likely crossed paths with one of the many ambitiously scoped songs Lo Faber wrote or co-wrote with his band God Street Wine. From multi-section instrumentals, R&B flavored tales of $1.99 Romances, to a mix of almost anything that journeyed in an adventurous stew of rock and jazz, Faber helped lead the charge on throwing out the rule book on what a band can sound like.
Fans of John Prine and Jeff Tweedy’s solo work will also find a kinship with Dr. Lo’s sly and soulful side, which has 'daytime festival slot' written all over it." - Glide Magazine
