About SOM (Official)

The album, The Shape of Everything (Pelagic Records), finds SOM refining a sound that's been called "doom pop" by Metal Injection, with ethereal heartfelt vocals atop huge riffs both gritty & atmospheric. Building on the acclaim of 2018 debut The Fall and shimmering 2021 EP Awake, the group (comprised of current and former members of Constants, Junius, and recent Grammy nominees Caspian) creates concise compositions that balance the gritty riffs of Deftones with airy, Tame Impala-esque vocal lines, just as suited for rock radio as for shoegaze-loving connoisseurs.
With the release of their new album, the band has returned to the road, touring North America in Spring 2022 with Slow Crush, in Fall 2022 with Holy Fawn and Grivo, and completing a massive 5+ week tour of Europe and the UK over Winter 2023 with Katatonia and Sólstafir. SOM continue to channel the darkness of current times to create and heal, and are currently finishing their third full-length, due out in 2024.
